'The Irishman' Announcement Teaser: Martin Scorsese's Long-Awaited Film Is Confirmed For A Fall Release

Martin Scorsese‘s “The Irishman” has been in development for probably about 43 years, at this point. Since the film was announced, we’ve been anticipating Scorsese’s return with collaborator, Oscar-winner Robert De Niro. For a while, there have been bits and pieces of news dropping to give audiences a sense of what will be in store with “The Irishman.” The film will follow a mob hitman as he recalls his possible involvement with the slaying of Jimmy Hoffa. One of the most talked-about aspects of the film is how Scorsese is partnering with Netflix. Netflix has provided the opportunity for Scorsese and his team to do the film right, according to actor Robert De Niro. The streaming service has seen success this past year with “Roma” earning 10 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture. And according to recent news, much like “Roma,” Scorsese’s latest will also have a theatrical release (and maybe a Cannes debut?) before hitting the streaming service.

The film is said to feature a de-aged Robert De Niro and Al Pacino for almost half the run-time, leaving us to speculate as to what has probably been the major delay for the film. The technique has been done before, specifically in recent superhero films like “Captain Marvel,” but it might be jarring to see a young Pacino and De Niro back on the screen, considering both were major stars during their younger years, as well.

Well, after all the news, speculation, and anticipation, we finally have a first look at what is hopefully the next great Scorsese epic.

You can watch the teaser trailer (sadly, with no footage).
