'Jexi' Trailer: Adam DeVine Has To Survive A Jealous Smartphone In New Comedy From 'Bad Moms' Directors

More likely than not, you are addicted to your smartphone. At least, that’s what the film “Jexi” wants you to believe. Honestly, you probably are addicted, but hopefully not nearly as much as the lead in the comedy about artificial intelligence going rogue.

And while “Jexi” is about a rogue AI, don’t expect this to be some sort of sci-fi thriller. No, “Jexi” is most certainly a comedy, where the AI isn’t going to destroy the world. Instead, Jexi is simply going to destroy your life. Especially if you cheat on her with a real-life, flesh and blood girl.

The comedy stars Adam DeVine, Alexandra Shipp, Ron Funches, Charlyne Yi, Wanda Sykes, Justin Hartley, Kid Cudi, Michael Peña, and Rose Byrne. “Jexi” is written and directed by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore. They’re probably best known for the comedies “Bad Moms” and “A Bad Moms Christmas,” as well as being the writers on “The Hangover.”

“Jexi” arrives in theaters on October 11.

Here’s the synopsis:

Phil (Adam Devine) has a major dependency issue – he’s addicted to his phone. He has no friends, he has a job writing pop culture “Top 10” lists, and his love life is non-existent. But his Facebook status is about to change. When he is forced to upgrade his phone, the latest model comes with an unexpected feature…Jexi (Rose Byrne) – an A.I. life coach, virtual assistant and cheerleader. With her help, Phil begins to get a real life. But as he becomes less dependent on his phone, Jexi’s artificial intelligence morphs into a tech nightmare determined to keep Phil all to herself, even if it means ruining his chances of finding success.
