HBO subscribers got their first peek at Larry David‘s upcoming history-comedy series in a 2026 sizzler last December, and at that point, the show didn’t even have a name. Now, it does, along with a new teaser featuring none other than former President Barack Obama.

No surprise, there, however, as Obama serves as an executive producer on “Life, Larry, And The Pursuit Of Unhappiness.” The team-up between David and Obama honors the United States Of America’s 250th anniversary as a nation with an idiosyncratic retelling of the nation’s history in a way only the creator of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” could do. Alas, there’s no footage in the new teaser, but expect it in the show’s first trailer leading up to its June premiere.

President and Mrs. Obama wanted to honor America’s 250th anniversary and celebrate the unique history of our nation on this special occasion…but then Larry David called.
In HBO’s press release for the show, the network states the series will feature select “Curb Your Enthusiasm” actors and noteworthy guest stars. That list includes Jon Hamm, Bill Hader, Susie Essman, Vince Vaughn, Jeff Garlin, Jerry Seinfeld, and more.
“Life, Larry, And The Pursuit Of Unhappiness” is written by David, who also executive produces the series with co-creator Jeff Schaffer; Schaffer also directs all seven episodes of the show. Other executive producers on the series include Barack and Michelle Obama Ethan Lewis, and Vinnie Malhotra.
“Life, Larry, And The Pursuit Of Unhappiness” premieres on HBO and HBO Max on June 26, with new episodes premiering weekly through its season finale on August 7. Watch a teaser for the upcoming comedy show below.
