'Pieces Of A Woman' Trailer: Vanessa Kirby & Shia LaBeouf Are Torn Apart By A Terrible Tragedy

It took the fall film festival circuit by storm, and one of the most acclaimed movies of the year expected to be a major player is “Pieces of A Woman,” from celebrated filmmaker Kornél Mundruczó (“White God”). The movie stars Vanessa Kirby and Shia LaBeouf, as a couple that undergoes a terrible tragedy that threatens to ruin their marriage, their lives, and the disintegrating psyches of everyone around them.

The movie also co-stars Molly Parker, Sarah Snook, Iliza Shlesinger, Benny Safdie, Jimmie Fails, and as rumored, it’s coming out by the end of the year, but just barely. Kirby won Best Actress at the 2020 Venice Film Festival, critics raved about the film (including our reviewer), and it just seems poised to be a major awards player. Martin Scorsese blessed the film as an executive producer a few months before its premiere too. Here’s the official synopsis.

Martha (Vanessa Kirby) and Sean (Shia LaBeouf) are a Boston couple on the verge of parenthood whose lives change irrevocably when a home birth ends in unimaginable tragedy. Thus begins a yearlong odyssey for Martha, who must navigate her grief while working through fractious relationships with her husband and her domineering mother (Ellen Burstyn), along with the publicly vilified midwife (Molly Parker), whom she must face in court. Directed by Kornél Mundruczó (WHITE GOD, winner of the 2014 Prix Un Certain Regard Award), written by Kata Wéber, and executive produced by Martin Scorsese, PIECES OF A WOMAN, is a deeply personal, searing, and ultimately transcendent story of a woman learning to live alongside her loss.
