Ray Winstone Cast As Caesar In Soderbergh's "Tommy Meets Viva Las Vegas" Cleopatra Musical

Ray Winstone has been cast as Caesar in Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming “Cleopatra” musical which features the terse rock of Guided By Voices. Soderbergh calls it ‘Viva Las Vegas’ Meets The Who film ‘Tommy.’ “I’ve always wanted to do a musical. All the ones that were coming along just weren’t for me. I wanted to do a real rock n roll musical like ‘Tommy.’ During my research it appeared that most were female driven. So I started thinking about female protagonists. I was thinking about Catherine. It doesn’t take too long to think about Catherine and famous female historical figures to get to get to Cleopatra.” The film starts shooting in April. [MTV]

Rumors say Rob Zombie might be back for “Halloween 2,” even though he’s always claimed he was never interested in any sequels for the genre. Considering the source, we believe him. [ShockTilYouDrop]

Is Marty Scorsese directing “Falcon’s Tale”? A film about “a career criminal is sent inside a high security, mental institution to discover the whereabouts of a serial killers victims.” William Monahan (“The Departed”) is writing the screenplay adaptation and obviously he and Scorsese are close. Apparently Ben Stiller is contemplating a “Zoolander 2.” It’s a bit of an overrated comedy, but it is good with some pretty funny moments. Still, we’d rather try and see him tackle something else. [/Film]
