Few movies from last year packed the same punch as S.S. Rajamouli‘s action epic “RRR,” about two Indian revolutionaries, their friendship, and their fight against the British Raj. Now the film returns to theaters next month, so for those who didn’t see it in 2022 (or don’t want to watch it on Netflix), here’s another chance to catch it on the big screen.
“RRR” stars N.T. Rama Rao Jr. as Komamram Bheem and Ram Charan as Alluri Sitarama Raju, two real-life Indian rebels who join forces to face off against the British in the 1920s. Of course, Rajamouli’s film lends the two friends a larger-than-life rendition. “RRR” is the most expensive Indian film ever, and its runtime goes over three hours.
Here’s the film’s official synopsis, courtesy of Variance Films:
Set in the 1920s before their fight for India’s independence began, RRR imagines a fictional meeting between the two, set into motion when a young Gond girl is stolen from her village by British soldiers.
“RRR” also stars Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran, Samuthirakani, and Ray Stevenson. Alison Doody, Olivia Morris, Chatrapathi Sekhar, and Makarand Deshpande also star. Rajeev Kanakala, Rahul Ramakrishna, Edward Sonnenblick, and Ahmareen Anjum round out the main cast.
Rajamouli’s epic won a slew of accolades last year, including becoming the second non-English film ever to make the National Board Of Review‘s list of best films for 2022. “RRR” was also nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the Golden Globes this year. Next up, the film vies for Best Original Film at this year’s Academy Awards in March for “Naatu Naatu.”
Don’t miss a chance to see India’s biggest movie ever on the big screen when “RRR” hits theaters again on March 3. Watch a new trailer for the film below.
