Russell Brand Says He'll Be Back For 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' Sequel And Reprise Aldous Snow Character; Does He Mean 'Five Year Engagement'?

Ah, gotta love the Brits with their stellar cuisine and comedians that don’t know shit from shynola. Russell Brand, the doofus rock star antagonist of “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” has been flapping his gums saying he’s going to be part of the sequel to the film and reprising his character. “I’ll be playing Aldous Snow again, back on drugs, all mental,” he told the UK comedy site Chortle.

Apparently stars Jason Segel and Kristen Bell have been approached by the studio, but neither of them have confirmed their involvement. Hello? It was Segel’s script and idea in the first place, could there even be a film without him? Then again, studios do own everything and they could also do bad knock-off without either of them. Or is the slow-witted Brand just meaning he’s going to appear in “Five Year Engagement” the sort-of, but not-really sequel to the film that Segel and his director buddy Nicholas Stoller are planning.

And no, they don’t mean the vulgar- “Almost Famous”-like “Get Him To The Greek,”project with Stoller and Jonah Hill shooting next spring as they actually do reference that as a separate project.

Chortle doesn’t get into the details so we’re left to annoyingly speculate and try and make sense of their lack of details. Asked about a ‘Sarah Marshall’ sequel at one of the film’s premieres in May Segel said, “I don’t think there’ll be a sequel anytime soon, but we are doing a new movie for Judd Apatow called ‘Five Year Engagement’ which is about relationships over a long period of time, so I’m very excited about that.”

Meanwhile, ‘Sarah Marshall’ fans take note: there’s going to be a friggin’ three-disc Ultimate edition DVD of the film for those that feel the need to own any three disc compilation of a funny, little comedy (hey, we loved the film, but three discs?? It’s a bit much). We wrote all about the Aldous Snow songs in ‘Sarah Marshall,’ written by composer/songwriter Peter Salett, so if you want to hear them, check out this music piece we wrote in May. Oh yeah, Brand is also hosting is the upcoming MTV Video Awards, umm, no one really knows who he is, this is a terrible idea (Seth Rogen is probably the guy you wanted, people).
