'Share' Trailer: A24's Sundance Standout About A High School Scandal Comes To HBO Next Month

Of the films that premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, “Share” might have had the most buzz coming out of the event. The drama, focused on a teenager dealing with the fallout from being blacked out and potentially assaulted, ended up being purchased by A24 and subsequently was signed for distribution by HBO.

Now, with the film only a month away from its HBO premiere, we have a first look at the trailer for “Share.” As mentioned, the film follows the story of a 16-year-old girl that wakes up after a night of partying with no memory of what happened. Things get thrown into chaos when a video from that night, showing the teen in a compromising position and possibly assaulted by some peers, gets shown all around her high school.

As mentioned, “Share” debuted at Sundance and in our review, we said, “Among its many achievements, ‘Share’ uncomfortably captures the specific end-of-the-world misery of high school scandal, and the way that those highly populated spaces can somehow feel like the loneliest in the world.”

The highly-anticipated film stars Rhianne Barreto, Charlie Plummer, Poorna Jagannathan, J.C. MacKenzie, Nicholas Galitzine, Lovie Simone, and Danny Mastrogiorgio. “Share” is written and directed by Pippa Bianco, who based this film off her short, with the same title, that debuted at Cannes in 2015.

“Share” debuts on HBO on July 27.

Here’s the synopsis:

Based on Pippa Bianco’s Cannes Film Festival award-winning short of the same name, this feature-length drama stars Rhianne Barreto as 16-year-old Mandy, who discovers a disturbing video from a night she doesn’t remember and must try to figure out what happened and how to navigate the escalating fallout.
