'Spontaneous': Katherine Langford Stars In A Teen Comedy Where Kids Are Literally Blowing Up

You know what would be funny? A film about teens who go to school and then find out that there’s some mysterious illness that is causing them all to spontaneously combust. Well, at least the filmmakers behind “Spontaneous” think that’s the premise for a hilarious teen comedy, even if it does sound a bit horrific at first glance.

In the new trailer for “Spontaneous,” a teen girl meets a teen boy and flirtation ensues. Everything seems to be going down the road of a YA romance until one of their classmates just explodes in class. This forces the school to shut down and the teens to become lab experiments for scientists aiming to figure out why these kids seem to be combusting. Again, just remind yourself that this is supposed to be hilarious and not at all a reminder that we are currently involved in a pandemic that is forcing many parents to send their children to schools where they might become infected with a deadly virus. Sure, they’re likely not going to explode, so I guess it is a little different.

The film marks the directorial debut for Brian Duffield, the screenwriter behind “Jane Got A Gun” and Kristin Stewart’sUnderwater.” The cast includes Katherine Langford, Charlie Plummer, Yvonne Orji, Hayley Law, Rob Huebel, and Piper Perabo.
