As seen in the trailer for “The Five Devils,” the film follows the story of a young girl with the ability to not only pinpoint the differences in smells to a ridiculous degree but to replicate exact smells. She keeps these creations in jars and labels them based on what they are. However, this gift is thrown for a loop when an estranged family member returns, and her smell triggers all sorts of unintended consequences.

The film stars Adèle Exarchopoulos, Sally Dramé, Swala Emati, Moustapha Mbengue, and Daphné Patakia. “The Five Devils” is directed by Léa Mysius, who co-wrote the script alongside Paul Guilhaume

We saw the film at last year’s Cannes, and in our review, we said that “The Five Devils” “captivates from its very first seconds” and “raises the bar in terms of sophistication and style.”

“The Five Devils” debuts in theaters on March 24 before heading to MUBI on May 12. You can watch the new trailer below.

Here’s the synopsis:

Vicky, a strange and solitary little girl, has a magical gift: she can reproduce any scent she likes, and collects them in a series of carefully labeled jars. She has secretly captured the scent of Joanne, her mother for whom she nurtures a wild, excessive love. When her father’s sister Julia bursts into their life, Vicky reproduces her smell and is transported into dark and archaic memories which lead her to uncover the secrets of her village, her family and her own existence.
