'The Full Monty' Director Peter Cattaneo To Deliver 'Bridget Jones's Baby'

nullEveryone's favorite hapless and insecure Londoner is back, and this time, she's bringing a baby. Yes, the third installment in the adventures of Bridget Jones is gearing up, and it now has a title that says it all: "Bridget Jones's Baby." And moreover, it has a director.

While "Bridesmaids" helmer Paul Feig took a pass at the script by Helen Fielding and David Nicholls and was eyeing the job for himself, he eventually moved on and the producers were said to be looknig for a Brit to take the helm. Well, they got one. "The Full Monty" director Paul Cattaneo will get this one underway, and yeah, we kind of forgot about this guy too. While 'Monty' was a massive, Oscar-nominated hit (the rare comedy to get Best Director and Best Picture nods), Cattaneo hasn't matched that success since. You probably didn't hear about "Lucky Break" and "Opal Dream," while the Rainn Wilson vehicle "The Rocker" was a non-starter. Of late, Cattaneo has been directing the BBC comedy "Rev." But this should find him back with a big project and if it does well, and brings back those fans who have been waiting seven years for a followup to "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason," maybe he'll be able to do something else that gets him back in the Kodak Theater.

But before that, he'll be hanging out with Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant who are all returning. The former desperately needs a career boost as she hasn't done a movie in years that anybody has seen — remember "Case 39"? "My Own Love Song"? "My One and Only?" — while Firth and Grant will be collecting some easy paychecks. Filming will kick off next year. [Deadline]
