'The Resort' Trailer: William Jackson Harper & Cristin Milioti Star In Peacock's Thriller Series From The Writer Of 'Palm Springs'

One of the newest and fastest-growing streaming services at the moment is NBCUniversal’s Peacock. Launched in 2020, the platform already boasts (as of April 2022) more than 13 million paid subscribers across the US and Europe. Recent shows include the reboot of “Queer as Folk,” the pop miniseries “Angelyne,” and the hit comedy “Rutherford Falls,” whose second season premiered earlier this month. Perhaps the most exciting series to air this summer, however, is “The Resort,” a star-studded comedic thriller from “Palm Springs” writer Andy Siara.

During an anniversary trip to Mexico, Noah (William Jackson Harper) and his wife Emma (Cristin Milioti) become embroiled in an unsolved Yucatan mystery that occurred 15 years prior. The official synopsis describes the series as “a multi-generational, coming-of-age love story disguised as a fast-paced mystery about the disappointment of time.” Nick Offerman (“Parks & Recreation”), Skyler Gisondo (“Licorice Pizza”), and Nina Bloomgarden (“Hot Pink”) play some of the other vacationers (past and present) at the resort, while Luis Gerardo Méndez (“Narcos: Mexico”) and Gabriela Cartol (“La Camarista”) star as resort employees.

In a press statement released with the show’s first-look images, Siara said, “When I was much younger and had more energy, I wanted to make a big summer movie with mystery, detectives, adventure, comedy, tragedy, romance, a natural disaster, plus a dose of the surreal and existential — and ideally it would have been for Universal. That didn’t happen. But now, many years later, we have ‘The Resort’… and it’s kind of a big summer movie with all of those things… just split into 8 half-hour episodes on Peacock, which is kind of like the sibling of Universal, so it all came together in the end.”

“The Resort” is produced by UCP, with executive producers Sam Esmail and Chad Hamilton; the first four episodes are directed by Ben Sinclair (“High Maintenance”).

Episodes 1-3 premiere on Peacock on July 28, with new episodes streaming weekly.
