‘The Woman In Cabin 10’ Trailer: Keira Knightley, Guy Pearce, Hannah Waddingham & Gugu Mbatha-Raw Lead Netflix Thriller Premiering October 10

A luxury yacht at sea, a woman who swears she saw something no one else will admit, and the creeping dread of realizing the danger might be closer than anyone imagines. That’s the setup for “The Woman in Cabin 10,” Simon Stone’s new Netflix thriller based on Ruth Ware’s best-selling novel, premiering globally on October 10.

Keira Knightley leads the cast as Lo, a journalist on assignment who sees a passenger thrown overboard in the middle of the night—only to be told it never happened. All passengers and crew are accounted for, and no one believes her. Determined to find the truth, she presses on, putting herself in grave danger as paranoia closes in. The starry ensemble also includes Guy Pearce, Hannah Waddingham, David Ajala, Art Malik, Kaya Scodelario, David Morrissey, Daniel Ings, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw, with Gitte Witt, Christopher Rygh, Pippa Bennett-Warner, John MacMillan, Paul Kaye, Amanda Collin, and Lisa Loven Kongsli.

“At its heart, the film is about a woman who experiences something wrong, reports it truthfully, and isn’t taken seriously because of who she is,” author Ruth Ware said. “Too many people know what that feels like, and I think we want vindication for ourselves as much as Lo.”

Stone, who directs from a script by Joe Shrapnel & Anna Waterhouse and himself, said he approached Knightley’s performance with the spirit of 1970s paranoid thrillers. “It’s always the woman whose sanity we’re doubting. I wanted Lo to feel more like Dustin Hoffman or Robert Redford, characters you never question. And Keira plays it so subtly — she makes you believe every moment.” As he put it, “The paranoia comes not from doubting her, but from believing her — and realizing how terrifying that is.”
