‘Thor: Love & Thunder’: More Of The Same But This Time With Screaming Goats [The Playlist Podcast]

After being disappointed with most of the films in Marvel Studios’ Phase 4, The Playlist Podcast is here to talk a bit more positively about the MCU with “Thor: Love & Thunder.” With the return of Taika Waititi behind the camera, Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder is back with more laughs, more adventures, and more Thors.

“Thor: Love & Thunder” is the fourth film in the ‘Thor’ franchise—the first time a solo MCU hero gets a four-quel, as a matter of fact—and if you loved “Thor: Ragnarok,” then the odds are, you’re going to have a blast with this new film. In addition to Waititi and Hemsworth coming back for more hijinks, ‘Love & Thunder’ marks the returns of Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie and Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster. The latter of which gets a superhero makeover as she gains possession of a mystical hammer to become the Mighty Thor.

Is ‘Love & Thunder’ just more of the same that we got in ‘Ragnarok?’ Maybe. Are the characters a bit shortchanged in favor of keeping the story going and the jokes coming? Sure. Does all of that matter in the larger scheme of things? Not really.
