Tomorrow, we’ll be getting a first-look trailer for A24 and Matt Johnson‘s Anthony Bourdain biopic, “Tony.” Ahead of that, a batch of new images from the movie starring Dominic Sessa (“The Holdovers”) and Antonio Banderas (“Babygirl”) have made their way online.
Those pics hailing from Entertainment Weekly are expected to take place during Bourdain’s seminal years working in kitchens (specifically taking place over a summer in 1975), which could explore his time in culinary school, struggles with substance abuse, and other events that were documented in his breakout, brutally honest novel “Kitchen Confidential.”

“Set in the summer of 1975, when a 19-year-old Bourdain travels to Provincetown, Mass., where he finds work in a local restaurant and, in turn, inspiration and purpose in life thanks to, of course, the food, as well as those around him.”
His book not only had some self-defecating reflection of his own life, but also exposed the pirate-like culinary world and some unethical practices used by the industry to squeeze money out of customers by rolling back the quality of food.
Bourdian saw fame later in life as he eventually got the opportunity to host/produce a slew of travel series, such as “A Cook’s Tour” that would see him criss-crossing the world eating and interviewing folks from all walks of life, and ultimately took his own life in his hotel room during the production of the acclaimed CNN series “Parts Unknown.” A devastating loss that many are still grieving from.
Johnson, the director of “Blackberry,” co-wrote the film alongside Matthew Miller, Todd Bartels, and Lou Howe. Others among the cast of “Tony” are Leo Woodall (“The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum”), Emilia Jones (“CODA,” “Task”), and stand-up comedian Stavros Halkias (“Bagonia”).
That said, you can view those first-look photos and a teaser poster for “Tony” below, with an expectation that the film will be heading to theaters in August.
