Tribeca Roundup: Trailers For Michael Haneke Doc & Drug Tale ‘Deep Powder’ Plus New Images From ‘A Case of You’

Michael HanekeIt’s that time of year again and the Tribeca Film Festival is just around the corner. Here are a few images and trailers to give us a taste of what is to come from April 17th-28th. True to Tribeca’s characteristic range, we have new images and trailers from a documentary about a highly esteemed filmmaker, a sexy feature about preppy drug smugglers, and a romantic comedy for the social media generation with a star-studded cast.

One of the more promising entries is “Michael H. Profession: Director” which examines the life and career of “Amour” director Michael Haneke. Directed by Yves Montmayeur (who has shot making-of features about Haneke’s films in the past), the film follows Haneke while he is shooting his most recent “Amour” and includes interviews with him, Emmanuelle RivaJean-Louis TrintignantIsabelle Huppert, and Juliette Binoche. “Michael H. Profession: Director” begins screening on April 18th at the Tribeca Festival. Check out the riveting trailer below.

Based on real events, “Deep Powder” is about an attractive boarding school senior (Haley Bennett) picking up a townie (Shiloh Fernandez) to help her in a drug-run to Ecuador. Looking like a role Blake Lively could have turned down, Bennett (the pop star in “Music and Lyrics” and Terrence Malick‘s latest muse) plays an ’80s-style preppy drug dealer, wreaking blonde havoc whereas Fernandez (“Evil Dead” remake) is in her wake as the ensnared local. If you haven’t guessed it, the title “Deep Powder” is a play on the word powder – the powder on skiing slopes and the powder from Ecuador aka cocaine. “An intense and sexy drama,” the trailer looks like a lost “Gossip Girl” episode revamped into an indie film, but first impressions could be wrong. “Deep Powder” begins screening on April 19th  at the Tribeca Film Festival. Check out new images and a trailer below.

In this case, the protagonist (Justin Long) uses an online profile to bolster himself up in the eyes of his love interest (Evan Rachel Wood). When his dream girl falls for his online profile, he must keep up the charade or else risk losing her. What really makes this film stand out is its stellar cast, which includes Peter DinklageBrendan FraserSam Rockwell, Sienna MillerVince Vaughn, and Busy Philipps. In the images below, you can peak at a scruffy-looking Fraser and Dinklage with a Bieber/hipster haircut along with Long and Wood in a parka and poncho, respectively, up top. “A Case of You” begins screening on April 21st at the Tribeca Film Festival. nullnull
