Watch: Celebrate Facebook's 10th Birthday With 11 Clips From David Fincher's 'The Social Network'

The Social Network

Remember when you could poke people on Facebook? Or how about the first time someone liked your status update? It’s hard to believe, but today Facebook celebrates it’s tenth birthday, with the site officially launched on February 4, 2004. And it can be easy to forget how massively Mark Zuckerberg‘s site reshaped the way we interact online and infiltrated pop culture, and so, here’s a reminder.

Quick: name another website whose founding became a critically acclaimed, box office sensation and earned 8 Oscar nominatons (winning 3). You can’t, and that’s because there’s only one — David Fincher‘s “The Social Network.” The 2011 film is a pretty electric procedural, turning what could be a dusty drama about making a website, into a story about obsession, power, ego and hubris, with Jesse Eisenberg at the center, as the too-clever-for-his-own good and somewhat maladjusted outsider Mark Zuckberg. Propelled by a wordy script from Aaron Sorkin, and a pace developed by Fincher that doesn’t let up for one moment, it’s a crackerjack of a movie.

So, until you get a chance revisit the movie in whole later today, here’s 11 clips from the movie that turned a social media phenomenon into a multiplex hit.
