‘We Can Be Heroes’ Trailer: Robert Rodriguez Returns To His Kid-Friendly Superhero Realm For Netflix

Fans of “Spy Kids” and “The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl,” pay attention! Robert Rodriguez is jumping back into the world of bright-colored, heavily green-screened kids films with the upcoming Netflix feature, “We Can Be Heroes.” And if you’re a fan of the first two franchises, especially the latter, you’re going to love what the filmmaker has in store for you.

As seen in the first full trailer for “We Can Be Heroes,” Rodriguez has crafted a story that showcases an entire superhero universe and what happens when the Avengers-esque team, The Heroics, ends up getting captured by villains, leaving their children to pick up the slack. But we’re not talking about traditionally-trained superhero kids. These are seemingly normal kids who just so happen to be superheroes’ sons/daughters, each with unwieldy powers. As you might guess, that’s exactly where the story really kicks into gear.

As with all of Rodriguez’s projects, “We Can Be Heroes” has a pretty great cast, mixing film and TV veterans such as Pedro Pascal, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Christian Slater, and Boyd Holbrook with young folks and fresh faces such as YaYa Gosselin, Vivien Lyra Blair, Isaiah Russell-Bailey, Akira Akbar, Lyon Daniels, Nathan Blair, Lotus Blossom, Hala Finley, Andy Walken, Dylan Henry Lau, Andrew Diaz, Taylor Dooley, Sung Kang, Haley Reinhart, J. Quinton Johnson, Brittany Perry-Russell, Brently Heilbron, and J.J. Dashnaw.
