'13 Reasons Why' Season 2 Trailer: Hannah Wasn't The Only One

Netflix is notorious for not releasing their streaming numbers, but keen internet users have ways of guesstimating how many people are watching certain shows. One such way is to look at how many people are tweeting about it. Last year, the Netflix original “13 Reasons Why”saw more than 11 million tweets about it making it the most tweeted about show on 2017.  With those kinds of numbers, it was a no-brainer for Netflix to renew it for a second season.

But with season one ending where the original novel ends, what will season two cover? Showrunner Brian Yorkey mentioned that “season 2 will see us look at a lot of the events that we think we know how they went down and maybe learn they’re more complicated than we first thought.”

The main cast of Dylan Minnette, Christian NavarroAlisha Boe, and Kate Walsh are all set to return. Surprisingly, star Katherine Langford will also be returning, though the nature of how exactly her character Hannah is coming back is still unclear. When asked about what’s in store for Hannah this season, Langford said that “you see a very different Hannah in season 2. I would prepare fans not to expect the Hannah from season 1 for a multitude of reasons.”

The first season caused a lot of controversy over the way it addressed the serious subjects of suicide and self-harm. In light of those conversations, Netflix has included new resources on bullying, sexual assault, and drug abuse. Viewers can visit 13ReasonsWhy.info to look through an updated Discussion Guide and a new set of discussion series videos from the cast. In addition to those tools, the website also includes a crisis text line and the number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

Netflix will premiere all episodes of season two on May 18.
