Damn, the trailer for "3, 2, 1… Frankie Go Boom" looks strange. In a really good way. So how do we explain the madness therein? Let's go to the official synopsis which is brief: Frank Bartlett has been tortured, embarrassed and humiliated by his brother Bruce — usually on film — his entire life. Now that Bruce is finally off drugs and has turned his life around, things should be different. They are not.
Lol. Starring "Sons Of Anarchy" lead Charlie Hunnam (also recognizable from Judd Apatow's "Undeclared" and the original British "Queer as Folk") as Frank and Chris O'Dowd ("Bridesmaids") as Bruce, "3, 2, 1… Frankie Go Boom" seems to center on a sex-tape that goes viral involving Frank's girlfriend played by Lizzy Caplan. The picture also stars Ron Perlman as a trangendered ex-con and well, looks kind of hilarious in a genuinely absurd manner. You'll have to sort of just see it for yourself to really experience it.
Directed by Jordan Roberts (director of "Around The Bend," and he wrote the narration for the U.S. version of "March of The Penguins"), "3, 2, 1… Frankie Go Boom" also co-stars Chris Noth, Whitney Cummings and Nora Dunn. Due in theaters on October 12th (and available on iTunes September 10th), you can read our review of the film from SXSW earlier this year here, and listen to our interview with the director — and why he decided to stick Ron Perlman in a dress — here.
