Like Christopher Nolan but with less fancy suits and flasks of tea, Neill Blomkamp is also a fan of keeping details regarding his movies under lock and key as much as possible. And so his upcoming "Chappie" has mostly been shrouded in secrecy, but a trailer is coming soon, and now a perfectly bonkers poster has dropped.
What we know so far: the cast includes Hugh Jackman, Sigourney Weaver, Dev Patel, Sharlto Copley, and Die Antword. As for the story, it was co-written by Blomkamp and his wife/writing partner Terri Tatchell (who co-wrote "District 9"), and centers around a robot with artificial intelligence that is stolen by gangsters who plan to use it for sinister purposes. And in the poster below, it certainly does look like the robot is being held hostage (or something) while sporting some serious bling.
We can’t wait to see what this film turns out to be like. "Chappie" arrives on March 6, 2015.
