Production on "Magic Mike XXL" has kicked off, adding a few new names in the cast. Elizabeth Banks, Donald Glover and Michael Strahan join Channing Tatum and co. in the male stripper comedy sequel. The movie will picks up three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game and finds the remaining Kings of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight. On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways. Penned by "Hanna" scribe David Farr, who will make his directorial debut, the movie centers on "two affluent couples living above and below each other, with both wives expecting babies. Keegan-Michael Key and Regina Hall are going on "Vacation" with Ed Helms, Christina Applegate, Chris Hemsworth and Leslie Mann. This franchise reboot "will follow grown-up son (Helms) who has the perfect surprise for his wife, Debbie (Applegate), and two sons: the cross-country trip of a lifetime, reminiscent of the fun-filled excursion he took as a kid. Matt Bomer is joining Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe in "The Nice Guys." Shane Black wrote the script and is directing a ’70s set tale about a detective hired by a gangster to find a missing girl. In the process, he uncovers a dangerous conspiracy. [Deadline]
Pierce Brosnan has the "Urge." The former James Bond will star in the thriller "about a group of friends, who while on holiday at an island destination, take part in a new designer drug that makes them lose their ability to control their urges. Diego Luna‘s next directorial effort "Mr. Pig" has started filming and has seen Danny Glover and Maya Rudolph added to the cast. The comedy follows "a farm-worker who travels from the U.S. to Mexico, accompanied by a pig. They strike up a friendship of sorts." Cute. [Variety]
"Game Of Thrones" star Carice van Houten is lacing up for "Race." The actress will play infamous "Triumph Of The Will" director Leni Riefenstahl in the movie about Jesse Owens historic appearance at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin.
