Bryan Fuller Teases “Great Idea” For ‘Hannibal’ Season 4

With “Twin Peaks” revived after 26 years, and “Arrested Development” finding new life on Netflix years after it was canceled on Fox, there is perhaps reason to keep hope alive for “Hannibal.” Fans were disappointed when NBC canceled the series after three seasons, but chatter has stayed constant about a possible return for Mads Mikkelsen as the titular cannibal, and Hugh Dancy as the FBI agent with whom he shares a deadly, bromantic connection. Now, talk has sparked once again as creator Bryan Fuller reveals he knows where he wants to take the story next.

“I have conversations with [“Hannibal” executive producer] Martha De Laurentiis. I have conversations with Mads and Hugh. We’re are all excited about the prospect of returning to the story. There’s some hurdles to get through… [But] I just had a great idea for season 4. There’s an interesting next chapter in the relationship between Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter that would be fascinating to unpack. I’ve shared it with the gentlemen and they’re both keen on it,” he told Post Mortem podcast (via EW).

This isn’t the first time Fuller has spitballed concepts for a potential next chapter in the story. At one point, a potential feature film was teased, and last year Fuller said he wanted to make a miniseries based on “The Silence of The Lambs.” So it’ll be interesting to find out if his latest brainwave is something along those lines, or something altogether different. As for where a potential new home for “Hannibal” is, forget about Amazon or Netflix — they already passed.
