‘The Hunger Games’: Jennifer Lawrence Would “100 Percent” Return To The Franchise For Another Film

There’s no doubt that the success of “The Hunger Games” franchise led to the meteoric rise of Jennifer Lawrence’s career years ago. Sure, she was nominated for all sorts of awards for “Winter’s Bone,” but it wasn’t until she took on the role of Katniss in “The Hunger Games” that her career was firmly cemented in A-list territory. Typically, as we’ve seen with folks like Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, the idea of returning to a franchise that made them huge seems ridiculous. But for Lawrence, even after all this time, if the opportunity came for her to reprise the role of Katniss in a ‘Hunger Games’ sequel, she’d do it.

Speaking to Variety, while promoting her new film, “No Hard Feelings,” Jennifer Lawrence was asked about the possibility of ever coming back to the ‘Hunger Games’ franchise. And even though it doesn’t seem like it’ll ever happen, given the trajectory of the franchise, the actress is “100 percent” ready to grab her archery equipment again.

“Oh, my God – totally!” Lawrence said. “If Katniss ever could ever come back into my life, 100 percent. My producing partner just clutched her heart.”

As mentioned, even with Lawrence’s enthusiasm, it would appear that Lionsgate has other ideas for the future of ‘Hunger Games.’ This year marks the release of ‘The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,’ which is a prequel film. You have to assume, if the prequel is a massive success, the studio would likely move forward with more prequels and spinoffs. That said, Jennifer Lawrence is still a massive star, and though it doesn’t seem like a necessity story-wise, Lionsgate could just get another sequel in motion with the actress playing the older version of the character.

In the meantime, Lawrence is about to release the aforementioned “No Hard Feelings.” She’s also moving into producing. And it would seem like she can basically get any sort of film she wants made.

“The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” arrives in theaters on November 17.
