Get ready to return to the South Side of Chicago. Earlier today, Paramount+ with SHOWTIME released the first official trailer and key art for the second half of season six of their acclaimed original drama series “The Chi,” which is set to return on May 10, 2024. The new episodes will be released on streaming and on demand for Paramount+ subscribers prior to its premiere on television on Sunday, May 12, at 9 p.m. ET/PT, with the Paramount+ with SHOWTIME plan. The final eight episodes of the massive 16-episode season of the show were recently completed in Chicago.

‘The Chi’ is a timely coming-of-age story about a group of South Side Chicago residents who are connected by coincidence but bound by the need for redemption and connection. It was created and produced by Emmy winner Lena Waithe under her Hillman Grad banner and is executive produced by Emmy winner Common.
This season, Douda (Curtiss Cook), who is coping with the aftermath of Q’s death and its effect on the shifting loyalty of his inner circle, puts Emmett (Jacob Latimore) and Kiesha’s (Birgundi Baker) happy blended union to the test. Luke James’s complicated background impacts Victor in his new position as a city councilman. Jada (Yolonda Ross) and Darnell (Rolando Boyce), newlyweds, are afraid about their son Emmett after he takes a risky, desperate move.
Jacob Latimore, Alex Hibbert, Yolonda Ross, Shamon Brown Jr., Michael V. Epps, Birgundi Baker, Luke James, and Curtiss Cook are among the cast members of season six. Alongside other season six guest stars Kandi Burruss, La La Anthony, Vic Mensa, Carolyn Michelle Smith, Jason Weaver, Iman Shumpert, Nia Jervier, L’lerrét Jazelle, Hannaha Hall, Ahmad Ferguson, Genesis Denise Hale, Joel Steingold, Judae’a Brown, Miriam A. Hyman, Tyla Abercrumbie, Tai Davis, Rolando Boyce, and Tory O. Davis are Emmy winner Lynn Whitfield, Jill Marie Jones, Kadeem Hardison, Leon, Brett Gray, and Daniel J. Watts.
Executive producers of the show include Waithe and Common, as well as Aaron Kaplan (‘A Million Little Things’, ‘The Neighborhood’), Rick Famuyiwa (‘Dope’), Derek Dudley and Shelby Stone of ID8 Multimedia, and Hillman Grad CEO Rishi Rajani. Season six co-showrunners are executive producers Jewel Coronel and Justin Hillian. Resheida Brady and Naomi Funabashi, who oversees for Hillman Grad, are co-executive producers. Season six will have several episodes directed by producers Deondray and Quincy Gossfield.
