Guy Ritchie returned to the world of “Sherlock Holmes” with his recent Prime Video series “Young Sherlock” (a new iteration of the public domain character) starring Fiennes Tiffin, and as the streaming service moves forward with another batch of episodes, a new group of actors is joining the next season.

We’ve learned directly from Prime today that they’ve officially added Olivia Williams (“Dune: Prophecy”), Indira Varma (“Obi-Wan Kenobi,” “Game of Thrones”), Sophie Skelton (“Outlander”), and Aidan Gillen (“Game of Thrones,” “Peaky Blinders”) to the call sheet of “Young Sherlock.” Filming is already underway in the United Kingdom with Ritchie set to direct the first episode of Season 2; other cast members include Dónal Finn (The Wheel of Time, The Other Bennett Sister), Natascha McElhone (“Halo,” “Ronin”), Holly Cattle (Cobra, Rivals), and Max Irons (Condor).
The official synopsis from Season 1 provided by Prime:
When a charismatic, youthfully defiant Sherlock Holmes meets none other than James Moriarty, he finds himself dragged into a murder investigation that threatens his liberty. Sherlock’s first-ever case unravels a globe-trotting conspiracy, leading to an explosive showdown that alters the course of his life forever. Unfolding in a vibrant Victorian England and adventuring abroad, the series will expose the early antics of the anarchic adolescent who is yet to evolve into Baker Street’s most renowned resident.
As you might suspect, Ritchie serves as an executive producer, as the series is created for television and executive produced by showrunner Matthew Parkhill with executive producers Marc Resteghini, Dhana Rivera Gilbert, Simon Maxwell, Ivan Atkinson, Simon Kelton, Colin Wilson, Harriet Creelman, and co-executive producers Steve Thompson and James Dormer. Motive Pictures leads physical production for “Young Sherlock.”
Ritchie’s growing footprint on television also includes “MobLand” (Season 3 with Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren, and Pierce Brosnan returning is gearing up) and the slick Netflix drug-world series “The Gentlemen,” with the second season set to debut on September 3.
