Watch: Trailer For J.J. Abrams-Produced "Ro-Bromance" Series 'Almost Human' Starring Karl Urban

Almost Human Karl Urban

Named as one of our 10 Most Promising Network Shows For Fall 2013, we have to admit a certain curiosity about the J.J. Abrams-produced “Almost Human” based on the premise alone. That, and it has the potential to give us a weekly serving of Karl Urban in full on snark mode, which we wouldn’t complain about either.

Anyway, the series seems to be a mix of “RoboCop” and “I, Robot” sorta, with the Detroit-based show putting a twist on the buddy cop formula, set in the near future with Urban playing the cranky and probably rule-breaking Kennex who is teamed with a synthetic, but very (almost!) human robot named Dorian (Michael Ealy), and they go on police adventures. This new promo is high on wacky and funny, which isn’t helping us muster enthusiasm, but the budget looks good and if the tone pans out, it could definitely be one to put on the DVR schedule.

Thoughts? Let us know below. “Almost Human” premieres on November 17th on Fox and let’s hope we never hear the word “ro-bromance” ever again. [Comic Book Movie]
