'Ad Astra' TV Spot: Brad Pitt Tries To Save The Solar System In James Gray's Sci-Fi Epic

It feels like we’ve been waiting years for James Gray’s sci-fi epic, “Ad Astra.” The film, which stars Brad Pitt as an astronaut asked to save the solar system, has been in post-production for a while now, with the filmmaker taking his time on the special effects to make the film feel as real as possible. Well, about as real as a film about a mission to find extraterrestrial life can be.

As seen in the new ad/trailer for “Ad Astra,” Gray apparently is taking a page out of the Christopher Nolan handbook for space films. Perhaps it’s just the way the trailer is cut and the music that is used in the background, but you can’t help but get a strong “Interstellar” vibe from the film, as it features a story of a child attempting to repair a relationship with their father. Except, this time there is the promise of a solar system-destroying weapon and the threat of alien life that may come into play.

“Ad Astra” makes its debut in theaters on September 20.
