Amazon Revives 'Kids In The Hall' With Lorne Michaels Producing

As a teen growing up in the ‘90s, my exposure to “The Kids in the Hall” was over re-runs that aired at odd times throughout the day on Comedy Central. But make not mistake, when an episode aired, the Canadian sketch comedy series was must-see TV. For many comedy fans, ‘Kids’ was the weird cousin of ‘SNL,’ with some very strange characters and a much smaller group of actors. But for all those reasons, it was glorious. And now, it appears that ‘Kids’ is coming back, courtesy of Amazon.

According to Variety, Amazon has picked up a new eight-episode season of “The Kids in the Hall,” with cast members Dave Foley, Kevin McDonald, Bruce McCulloch, Mark McKinney, and Scott Thompson all returning. The original series ran for over 100 episodes and began airing in Canada in 1989. In addition to brand-new sketches and characters, the new season will reportedly find the cast reprising some of their more famous characters. And to help, ‘Kids’ will be executive produced by ‘SNL’ mastermind, Lorne Michaels.

“Even after 30 years, ‘The Kids in the Hall’ has retained its brilliance and originality,” said Michaels. “We are happy to be bringing back all of the original ‘Kids’ for the new series.”
