We’re very excited for the next big feature effort coming from veteran filmmaker Ridley Scott (“Alien,” “Blade Runner”), as “The Dog Stars” has him playing in the post-apocalypse sandbox after once being attached to helm an early version of “I Am Legend” when Arnold Schwarzenegger was attached in the lead role before the project pivoted to Will Smith in the 2000s.
With “The Dog Stars,” the director promises to avoid the zombie trope with the help of screenwriter Mark L. Smith (“The Revenant”), and from the footage in the newly released final trailer, the action-thriller aims to be a little more grounded than more fantastical projects like “Mad Max: Fury Road” or the two “28 Years Later” installments.

An official logline for the new film provided by 20th Century Studios:
The film tells the story of Hig (Elordi), a young pilot who, together with a military survivalist, Bangley (Brolin), has carved out an efficient but isolated homestead in a brutal post-apocalyptic world. But when Hig receives a mysterious radio transmission, he ventures into the unknown in search of the hope and humanity he still believes exist.
“The Dog Stars,” based on the Peter Heller novel of the same name, boasts an impressive cast led by Oscar-nominee Jacob Elordi (“Frankenstein”) alongside equally talented co-stars such as Josh Brolin (“Dune: Part Two”), Margaret Qualley (“The Substance”), Guy Pearce (“The Brutalist”), Benedict Wong (“Weapons”), and Allison Janney (“I, Tonya”). Scott is well-known for putting together some of the best collections of actors for his projects.
