Angelina Jolie To Direct Revenge Thriller 'Without Blood'

From 2011 to 2017, Angelina Jolie directed four feature films, earning acclaim for almost every one of them. However, since 2017, the actress-turned-filmmaker has been picking more mainstream acting roles, recently appearing in Marvel Studios’ “Eternals,” for example, and has yet to return to the director’s chair. But apparently, that’s about to change.

According to Deadline, Angelina Jolie has signed a new three-year deal with Freemantle to produce a number of films and TV series that will be released globally. And to kick off the deal, Jolie is set to direct “Without Blood” for the studio.

Based on the bestseller by author Alessandro Baricco, “Without Blood” tells the story of a young girl who survives a war only to find her trauma fueling her revenge years later against those who hurt her. No other details are known about the film other than filming is expected to take place in Italy.

Jolie said the impetus to make this deal was because of the “freedom to tell important stories and bring them to a global audience.”

She continued, “I am excited to be working with such a passionate and forward-looking team that has an international perspective.”

Obviously, this new deal means we can expect a lot more content coming from Jolie over the next few years, whether that is more from her as a director or just as an actress and/or producer. No release date is set for “Without Blood.”
