‘Angels In The Outfield’ Reunion: Tony Danza Takes Role In Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Directorial Debut

nullFor his brewing directorial debut Joseph Gordon-Levitt could have called on favors from the array of folks he's worked with over the years, but so far, he's teaming with new faces. Scarlett Johansson was the first to come on board, followed by Julianne Moore (okay, she cameod in "Electra Luxx" but as far as we know they didn't share any scenes) but for JGL's latest bit of casting, he's calling up a name from the very earliest days of his Hollywood career.

Tony Danza has joined the untitled project previously known as "Don Juan's Addiction." For anyone who was a fan of '90s baseball movies for kids (incidentally, whatever happened to that fun genre?), they'll know that JGL and Danza both starred in the 1994 remake of "Angels In The Outfield" with the former as the young kid who just wants his family back together and the latter as the pitcher with six months left to live. This time around however, the story is quite different. JGL's film which he also wrote and will star in, is a romantic comedy about a porn-addicted modern day Don Juan who goes on a journey to become less of a "selfish dick." Danza will play his Dad who doesn't pay enough attention to his family, with Moore in a "mentor" role with ScarJo's role still not known (though we presume she's the love interest).

It all sounds promising thus far. Production kicks off in L.A. next month. [Variety]
