‘Bios’: Tom Hanks’ Post-Apocalyptic Film Moves Back Release 4 Months To Late Summer

Even though there has been next to nothing revealed about “Bios” yet, that doesn’t mean the film isn’t ready to go. In fact, the film was originally supposed to be released in October 2020 by Universal. That is, until the pandemic changed everything and the film was moved to April 2021. But now, the sci-fi film finds itself pushed even further. Basically, you have to wait four additional months before you can see Tom Hanks and his dog in a post-apocalyptic world.

According to THR, Universal has decided to vacate its upcoming April release date for “Bios” and has, instead, decided that August is a safer timeframe for the sci-fi film. “Bios” stars Tom Hanks as a robotics engineer that has survived the apocalypse by living in an underground bunker with his dog, Goodyear. The bunker has basically turned into his whole world, but now the engineer has to find someone else to care for his dog after he dies. Samira Wiley also stars in the film.

“Bios” is part of the upcoming slate of spring films that seemed ready to go to help reinvigorate the struggling box office. However, with the COVID-19 vaccine still taking a while to be mass-produced and distributed, it appears that April is still not a good time to release a blockbuster film. The Hanks film is likely the latest in a group of March/April/May releases that will likely be headed to fall or even further away.
