'Bright' Honest Trailer: Race Relations Allegory From The Director Of 'Suicide Squad?' Ugh.

With films like “Get Out” providing high-quality entertainment with a heavy dose of social commentary, “Bright” shows that you shouldn’t expect that same level of care from the director of “Suicide Squad” and the writer of “Victor Frankenstein.” At least that’s what the guys over at Screen Junkies say in their latest Honest Trailer for the Netflix film.

After a long montage that shows how basically every Will Smith action movie is a facsimile of the tired trope, the Screen Junkies set their sights on the poor social commentary of “Bright.” As they point out, the film starts with an amazing premise about what would happen if Orcs and other fantasy characters were part of our world and have been for thousands of years. However, the film never fully realizes that vision, instead relying on typical Will Smith action trademarks, and a half-assed “message” equating the Orcs in the film to black people.

While those jokes write themselves, there is an extended joke that is pretty hilarious talking about the potential “Bright” sequels. Their version of “Bright 4,” where Larry David is crossed with a Frost Giant is pure gold.
