'Buffaloed' Exclusive Clip: Zoey Deutch Finds Out How Bloody Business Can Be In This Comedy

Debt collection is an industry similar to used car sales. We all know it’s necessary, but there’s something inherently icky about them. Used car salespeople are known for being slick, crude salespeople that will do anything to get you in a car, no matter if it’s a good deal or not. Debt collectors are also crude businesspeople, but instead of offering goods for money, they only aim to take your money and are generally a bit cold about it (as they have to be). Thus, debt collectors aren’t the most beloved folks in the world, as seen in the new film “Buffaloed.”

The film follows the story of a young, talented woman that is attempting to earn some extra money by working at a debt collection business. However, instead of doing this on the side, she realizes that she is actually really good at the job and dives in headfirst into the world of collection, leading to some pretty dicey situations.

The comedy stars Zoey Deutch, Judy Greer, Jermaine Fowler, Noah Reid, and Jai Courtney. The film is directed by Tanya Wexler, who is probably best known for her previous film, the 2011 period romance, “Hysteria.” Her next film is the upcoming “Jolt,” starring Kate Beckinsale.

“Buffaloed” arrives in select theaters on February 14.

Here’s the synopsis:

Buffalo is the debt collection capital of America, though Peg Dahl (Zoey Deutch) never saw herself in that world. She’s bet on her sharp mind—and even sharper mouth—to get her out of town and into an Ivy League university. But when an acceptance letter to the school of her dreams arrives, she quickly realizes the cruel impossibility of paying tuition. A chance phone call changes everything and leads her into the lucrative yet complex and shady business of delinquent debt collection. She’s a natural and soon running her own shop, but at what cost? Also starring Judy Greer, Jai Courtney and Jermaine Fowler, BUFFALOED is a hilarious and timely comedy about one woman rewriting the rules of The Man’s game.
