'Camping' Trailer: Jennifer Garner & David Tennant Experience A Crazy Birthday Camping Trip

As the Tenth Doctor, David Tennant has had to deal with many a catastrophe. The question is, did his traveling through time and space with his companions prepare him for a camping trip with control-freak Jennifer Garner? Our guess is probably not.

In the trailer for HBO‘s series “Camping,” Jennifer Garner’s controlling Kathryn has carefully planned out activities for her husband, Walt (David Tennant), for his 45th birthday. For the event, she has gathered together her meek sister, her holier-than-thou ex-best friend, and a free-spirited tagalong — for what was supposed to be a delightful, back-to-nature camping trip. The trip, however, quickly becomes a weekend of tested marriages and woman-on-woman crime since, instead, as Juliette Lewis‘ character proclaims, they’d rather do “whatever the fuck [they] want.”

The eight-episode comedy is based on the British series of the same name is written and executive produced by Lena Dunham, Jenni Konner, and John Riggi. Starring alongside Tennant and Garner are the familiar faces that include Janicza Bravo, Arturo Del Puerto, Brett Gelman, Ione Skye, and Bridget Everett.

While Tennant hasn’t been missing from the small screen, with his work in the animated “Duck Tales,” “Good Omens,” and “Jessica Jones,” “Camping” marks Konner and Dunham’s first series since “Girls” wrapped its six-season run in 2017 and Garner’s first TV role since her five-season run, more than a decade ago, as Sydney Bristow on ABC’s “Alias.”

Will Kathryn forgive her fellow campers for what they’ve done? Find out when the show premieres.

The show will be available on HBO  with its premiere October 14 at 10 p.m.
