Charlie Hunnam Won't Be Battling Kaiju In 'Pacific Rim 2'

Pacific Rim 2” or “Pacific Rim: Maelstrom,” whatever you want to call it, is slowly gearing up. Charlie Hunnam was at San Diego Comic Con this weekend, where he had the unfortunate task of repping “King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword,” a movie that has already been delayed and that no one seems to care much about, in the midst of Warner Bros. unveiling their much more anticipated superhero slate. At any rate, Yahoo Movies caught up with him and asked if he would be returning to save the world in “Pacific Rim 2,” and alas, it’s not meant to be. He said that scheduling conflicts and the “politics and business surrounding filmmaking” kept him out, noting that an early draft of the script involved him “heavily.” But Hunnam is still hoping it turns out well.

I dunno, sounds like there’s more to the story than he’s letting at on, but maybe he’s saving the real deal tale of what went down for another day. The “Pacific Rim” sequel arrives on February 23, 2018.
