Ellen Page And Kate Mara Teaming Up For ‘Mercy’

While Ellen Page has occasionally slipped into blockbuster projects like “X-Men: Days Of Future Past” and “Inception,” lately she’s been showing her talents in a string of indie films including “Freeheld,” “Talullah,” and “Into The Forest.” And while she’s currently filming the rebootquel “Flatliners,” she’s pivoting back to an indie with “Mercy” alongside Kate Mara.

Variety reports that “Mercy” is the story of Page’s character Lucy, the daughter of a man on death row, who falls in love with Mara’s character Mercy. However, Mercy is on the opposite side of the political cause. The relationship causes Lucy’s world to unravel as her value for truth is tested.

“Mercy” is written by Joe Barton and will be directed by Israeli filmmaker Tali Shalom Ezer, whose “Princess” was a critical darling at last year’s Sundance Film Festival. Along with Page and Mara, the film will also star Amy Seimetz, Pablo Schreiber, and Elias Koteas. The project is scheduled to begin filming in Cincinnati in September, and it’s probably a safe bet to appear on the festival circuit next year.
