Exclusive: First Official Poster & 10 Character One-Sheets For Steven Soderbergh’s Cinemax Series ‘The Knick’

The Knick Poster HeaderWhen Steven Soderbergh decided to retire from filmmaking, he had more or less stated that as far as his cinematic aspirations go, he had achieved much of what he had set out to do decades ago. But the filmmaker is never one to shy away from a challenge, and it looks like television is providing him an inspired opportunity to tell stories on a grander, more daring scale, with the kind of leeway and freedom he might not get at a Hollywood studio. And that’s only one of the reasons we’re excited to see "The Knick," the director’s upcoming series for Cinemax.

Another reason is Clive Owen, with the actor taking the lead role of Dr. John W. Thackery, the boundary-pushing practitioner at the Knickerbocker Hospital in New York City in the early 1900s, when antibiotics didn’t exist, and a visit to surgery could just as likely leave you dead as alive. And in these exclusive posters for the Cinemax series, we see the fascinating array of characters that will surround Thackery, and remind audiences of the bracing reality of the medical practice back then, where the sight of blood and bones was a common occurrence.

Co-starring André Holland, Eve Hewson, Juliet Rylance, Jeremy Bobb, Michael Angarano, Chris Sullivan, Cara Seymour, Eric Johnson, David Fierro, Maya Kazan, Leon Addison Brown and Matt Frewer, "The Knick" debuts on Cinemax on Friday, August 8th at 10 PM. Posters below.
