Marvel's Disney+ Super Bowl Teaser: First Look At 'Falcon & Winter Soldier,' 'WandaVision' & 'Loki'

Marvel Studios is coming to TV screens in 2020. Or, well, phone, tablet, laptop, or whatever screen you use to stream Disney+. The studio is kicking their small-screen adventures off with the upcoming limited series “The Falcon & The Winter Soldier,” “WandaVision” and “Loki.” And even though the “Falcon And The Winter Soldier,” the first D+ show, is still not going to debut until August, Marvel used the Super Bowl to kick off the marketing campaign with a new teaser for all three series.

As is accustomed with Marvel Studios, the first teaser didn’t do much else other than, uh, tease. Oh, but the studio teases oh so well!

The Best TV Shows & Mini-Series Of 2019

We know “Falcon And The Winter Soldier” set to follow the two title characters, portrayed by Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, respectively, as they deal with the fallout from “Avengers: Endgame.” Namely, they are dealing with the sudden departure of Captain America, now an old man and no longer carrying the red, white, and blue shield. And even though Steve Rogers hand-picked his buddy Sam Wilson, aka Falcon, to take on the shield, it appears that the government has someone else in mind, as Wyatt Russell is on board to play John Walker, aka U.S. Agent, a new kind of Captain America, but this time, controlled by the U.S. government,

Regardless of who ends up with the shield, the heroes will no doubt have to face off with returning villain Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl), who was last seen in the film “Captain America: Civil War.” Also joining the fun is Steve Rogers’ former flame, Agent Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp), as well as Adepero Oduye, Desmond Chiam, Miki Ishikawa, Noah Mills and very likely William Hurt as Thaddeus E. “Thunderbolt” Ross.

“WandaVision” delivers much more than expected, including the different sitcoms the show its influences from — it’s rumored to take place in Wanda’s (Elizabeth Olsen) head, as she enters a dream world where Vision (Paul Bettany) isn’t dead–plus a quick shot of Wanda pregnant and two baby cribs (!!; Wanda and Vision had twins in the comics, while this won’t be “real,” it’ll certainly be a nod to that). Lastly, there’s a shot of Wanda in the iconic red Scarlet Witch outfit, which looks more like a Halloween costume here. Not seen, but set to appear in “Wandavision” at some point are Teyonah Parris, and Kathryn Hahn, plus Kat Dennings and Randall Park reprising their MCU roles from the “Thor” and “Ant-Man” franchises.

“Loki” doesn’t reveal much. Just the god of mischief (Tom Hiddleston), seemingly in jail, threatening that he could easily burn this place to the ground. The interesting tell? On his prison fatigues is the acronym TVA, which in the comics, is the Time Variant Authority, an infinitely vast bureaucracy that governs a significant number of realities in the ever-growing multiverse. Loki is dead after all, but this Loki is the one from the alternate Earth that disappeared and went missing in the middle time-travel act of “Avengers: Endgame.”

As mentioned, “The Falcon & The Winter Soldier” isn’t expected to arrive on Disney+ until August, and “WandaVision” isn’t coming until late 2020, so we still have plenty of time to get teased more by Marvel (“Loki” won’t arrive until 2021). However, if this first clip is any indication, the studio won’t be holding back whatsoever with its small-screen adventures.
