'Glass' Trailer: M. Night Shyamalan Reveals The First Look Of His 'Unbreakable/Split' Universe

In a world where all of your favorite comic book characters are earning their spots in their respective cinematic universes, did you ever think that M. Night Shyamalan would be connected? Yeah, us either. Welcome to “Glass,” the long-awaited sequel to Shyamalan’s “Split” and 2000’s sleeper hit “Unbreakable.”

While David Dunn from “Unbreakable” may not be the next Captain America, Shyamalan seems to be following up on creating his own indie-horror cinematic universe with his version of a superhero.

“Eighteen years ago I had this idea: What if comic books were based on reality? I tried to tell the story of superheroes in the real world with David Dunn,” Shyamalan told EW recently. “Then two years ago, I got another crazy notion: What if the afflictions and disorders that everyone in society thinks make a person bad were actually gifts? And I created the origin story of an anarchist who could be good or bad.”

Shyamalan’s latest film “Glass” centers around security guard David Dunn uses his supernatural abilities to track Kevin Wendell Crumb, a disturbed man who has 23 personalities, with Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis, and James McAvoy are all reprising their roles from “Unbreakable” and “Split.”

The film’s official plot description reads, “Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.

As excited as we are for Jackson, Willis, and McAvoy to be on the screen together, none stand out as much as Jackson. After years of him stealing the show in every film he’s been in, all we can say is that we agree with his statement at CinemaCon, “It’s about time I get the title role in my motherfu**ing movie!”

“Glass” is set to be released January 18, 2019.
