Gwyneth Paltrow Still Hasn't Seen 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' Even After Being Shamed By Jon Favreau

With the onslaught of dozens of Marvel and DC movies in the last decade, you can’t blame someone for having a little superhero fatigue. Even if that someone has appeared more than five superhero movies herself. That’s right, Gwyneth Paltrow, aka Pepper Potts, we’re looking at you.

As evidenced by his wildly uncomfortable interview with “Joker” star Joaquin Phoenix, Jimmy Kimmel is not one to let a deliciously awkward moment pass him by. Paltrow recently made an appearance on Kimmel’s late-night show. Naturally, he found an opening to remind Paltrow of her noticeably large lapse in memory, where she infamously admitted she had not seen “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” a movie in which she made a brief cameo, much to her embarrassment.

When confronted by Kimmel, Paltrow claimed, “I just got confused. There are so many of these wonderful Marvel, interconnecting movies.”

And where Paltrow should have wisely kept her mouth should, she did not. She stuck by her belief that she thought she was appearing in an “Avengers” movie and not a “Spider-Man” movie. And when Kimmel asked if Spider-Man himself, played by Tom Holland, was offended Paltrow decided to respond by out-right admitting that she never saw “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” You know, the movie she likely made an ungodly amount of money to appear in for under five minutes. That movie.

Kimmel tried to salvage the moment by saying, “It’s okay if you didn’t see it. You’re Gwyneth Paltrow, you shouldn’t be watching ‘Spider-Man’ It would upset people if you had.”

I think we can all agree that opinion is more just Kimmel nicely comforting Paltrow in the midst of a slightly embarrassing gap in her memory.

Back in June, Oscar-winning actress Paltrow humorously made headlines when she accidentally admitted to fellow MCU-alum Jon Favreau that she had not seen “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” That brief cameo was her seventh appearance in the illustrious and expansive Marvel Cinematic Universe. Paltrow recently made an appearance on Favreau’s NetflixThe Chef Show” and argued for the fact that her scene with Spidey was in one of the “Avengers” films, not part of the “Spider-Man” movies.

Favreau casually tried to make small talk with Paltrow by reminding her, “Yeah, when we were in ‘Spider-Man’ together. Remember when we were in Spider-Man?”

Celebrity chef and fellow guest on the episode Roy Choi chimed in and tried to save Paltrow embarrassment by reminding her which particular “Spider-Man” movie she briefly appeared in. Yet Paltrow still firmly denied she appeared in any of the “Spider-Man” movies, adamantly stating it was an “Avengers” scene that she in Favreau appeared in. Favreau had to remind her of the specific details of the scene the appeared in together to jog her memory. Whether Paltrow truly remembered which movie she appeared in remains a mystery.

But as Paltrow’s character Pepper has survived her husband Tony Stark and Spider-Man has made his return to the MCU after a brief time away, it might be time that Paltrow commits the “Spider-Man” franchise to memory.
