Like the movie, the series will follow the life of a young teen girl named Hanna, who was raised alone in the Finnish wilderness by her father, with no contact with society. Not only does this make her a bit odd around people, but the skillset her father taught her sets her apart from the crowd. And she is going to need every skill she has in order to survive. Here’s the official synopsis:

HANNA follows the journey of an extraordinary young girl raised in the forest, as she evades the relentless pursuit of an off-book CIA agent and tries to unearth the truth behind who she is. Series premiere on March 29, 2019.

Though the vibe and plot are fairly similar, the show is definitely doing its own thing with an entirely new cast. Instead of Saoirse Ronan (“Grand Budapest Hotel,” “Brooklyn“), the titular role for the series is now played by up-and-coming British actress Esme Creed-Miles. In the role of Hanna’s father, instead of Eric Bana (“Time Traveller’s Wife,” “Troy“), we have Joel Kinnaman, known for his roles in “RoboCop” and as Rick Flag in “Suicide Squad.” And replacing Cate Blanchett as the CIA agent after the pair is Mireille Enos (“World War Z,” “If I Stay“). The TV series is written and created by British playwright David Farr, with the first episode out on Amazon Video. “Hanna” debuts on Amazon prime on March 29.

The song in the trailer? “Bullet With Butterfly Wings” performed by Karen O, originally by the Smashing Pumpkins. Watch the latest trailer for the action-packed suspense-filled series here:
