Eva Green is set to reunite with director Martin Campbell (“GoldenEye”) after working with him on “Casino Royale” and the recent actioner “Dirty Angels.” The new visually striking thriller arriving in theaters soon is titled “Just Play Dead” and sees the French actress teamed up with veteran actor Samuel L. Jackson (“Pulp Fiction”).
Campbell directs from a script penned by veteran screenwriter Dan Gordon, who previously wrote “The Hurricane,” “Murder in the First,” and the Kevin Costner-led Western “Wyatt Earp.” Valentin Dimitrov, Sagiv Diamant, Phil Hunt, Mario Reinach, and Moshe Diamant serve as the film’s main group of producers, alongside executive producers such as Arianne Fraser, Delphine Perrier, Henry Winterstern, Sean Maurer, Peter Jarowey, Rich Goldberg, and Jackson.
An official logline for the latest Campbell flick provided by Vertical:
Wealthy criminal mastermind Jack Wolfe (Jackson) is cornered by the Feds, but you can’t arrest a dead man. His plan? Fake his death, claim a $30 million insurance payout with his grieving wife Nora (Green), and frame her surfer lover Chad. But Nora, suffocated by Jack’s ruthless control, has her own scheme: kill Jack for real, frame Chad, and keep the fortune for herself. Jack, always a step ahead, sets a deadly trap, turning the unsuspecting lovers against each other.
Jackson is no stranger to the world of crime thrillers, with parts in films like Quentin Tarantino‘s “The Hateful Eight” and “Jackie Brown,” Paul Thomas Anderson‘s gambling pic “Hard Eight,” and “Lakeview Terrace.”
Fellow actors Eoin Macken, María Pedraza, and Jason Fernández are also featured in the cast. That newly released trailer for “Just Play Dead” can be viewed below, as the movie is heading to select theaters later this month on August 28 before heading to on-demand starting on September 1.
