'His Dark Materials' Season 2 Trailer: HBO's Fantasy Series Opens The Door To A New World

With its star-studded cast and popular source material, Season 1 of the YA novel adaptation “His Dark Materials” became a fixture of HBO’s lineup. The new trailer for “His Dark Materials” Season 2 is ready to expand upon the world Lyra thought she knew.

The new season of the show picks up after Lord Asriel opened a bridge into another world. She follows him into the unknown and tries to make sense of the strange new place she finds herself in. All the while Mrs. Coulter desperately attempts to track down Lyra, determined to bring her home by any means necessary.

Season 2 of “His Dark Materials” stars returning cast members Dafne Keen (“Logan“), Ruth Wilson (“The Affair“), Lin-Manuel Miranda (“Hamilton“), and Andrew Scott (“Fleabag‘s” Hot Priest himself). Newcomers to the HBO show include Terence Stamp “(Superman“), Jade Anouka (“Cleaning Up“), and Simone Kirby (“Notes on Blindness“).

Here’s the synopsis for “His Dark Materials” season 2:

Season two of HIS DARK MATERIALS begins after Lord Asriel has opened a bridge to a new world, and, distraught over the death of her best friend, Lyra follows Asriel into the unknown. In a strange and mysterious abandoned city she meets Will, a boy from our world who is also running from a troubled past. Lyra and Will learn their destinies are tied to reuniting Will with his father but find their path is constantly thwarted as a war begins to brew around them. Meanwhile, Mrs. Coulter searches for Lyra, determined to bring her home by any means necessary.

“His Dark Materials” season 2 premieres on HBO on Monday, November 16. New episodes are available to stream on HBO Max after they air. Take a look at the new trailer below.
