Got a Tip?

Javier Bardem Will Have ‘A Most Violent Year’ In ‘The Gunman’

Javier BardemJavier Bardem was busy over the past year, taking the world by storm as Silva in the billion dollar “Skyfall,” shooting Ridley Scott‘s “The Counselor” and of course popping up in Terrence Malick‘s “To The Wonder” but has since taken a bit of breather. But now he’s getting back to work — and how — lining two projects. So let’s get to it…

First up is “Margin Call” and “All Is Lost” director J.C. Chandor‘s next effort, “A Most Violent Year.” The project was announced during the Cannes Film Festival, and plot details were kept under wraps. And they are still, but Deadline says he’ll play “a good guy.” Shooting (ha) will take place in Manhattan this fall.

Speaking of shooting, Bardem is also boarding “The Gunman” — previously known as “Prone Gunman” — with Sean Penn, reteaming the actors for the first time since “Before Night Falls.” An adaptation of the Jean-Patrick Manchette novel, Penn will play an international operative named Martin Terrier, who goes on the run after being betrayed by his organization, and winds up battling Bardem. So yeah, awesome. Not so awesome? Pierre Morel (“Taken,” “From Paris With Love“) will direct. Win some, lose some, right?
