'Jessica Jones' Season 2 Trailer: It Takes A Monster To Stop A Monster

It has been a very long two and a half years since we were  introduced to Marvel’s first ever female superhero lead in “Jessica Jones.” The world was a much different place and, in the era of #TimesUp, we need a hero like her. But, thankfully the wait is almost over and season two is just around the corner, and we have a new trailer to tide us over. Here’s the official synopsis:

New York City private investigator Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) is beginning to put her life back together after murdering her tormenter, Kilgrave. Now known throughout the city as a super-powered killer, a new case makes her reluctantly confront who she really is while digging deeper into her past to explore the reasons why.

“Jessica Jones” made headlines in October of last year when it was announced that every episode of the highly anticipated second season would be directed by a woman. Initially, showrunner Melissa Rosenberg had only wanted to increase the amount of female directors working on the show, a point that Marvel was completely on board with. But once it the idea was in her mind, she quickly made it a goal for production and joined the ranks of shows like “Call the Midwife” and “Queen Sugar” to feature a complete season of exclusively women directors.

Ritter will be joined by returning cast members Rachael TaylorCarrie-Anne MossEka Darville and new cast members Janet McTeer and J.R. Ramirez, among others. In a somewhat unexpected announcement, it was revealed that David Tennant would be reprising his role as the villainous Kilgrave despite being killed by Jessica at the end of the previous season. Rosenberg discussed the return with EW and said that “[h]e’s such a part of her construction and her dilemma. I think just having him come back and be that mirror again is really important.”

Every episode of the second season will drop on Netflix on March 8th.
