Josh Trank Promises 'Fantastic Four' Will Be "An Epic, Massive, Huge, Multipower Slugfest"

Fantastic FourFrom moody trailers to rumors of behind-the-scenes troubles, fans are a bit wary about 20th Century Fox‘s forthcoming "Fantastic Four." Will it be too serious? Will these characters walk around looking grim? Well, there will be some furrowed brows according to director Josh Trank, who has revealed how the four will contend with their newfound powers.

“ ‘Chronicle‘ was all about the discovery and evolution of those powers,” Trank told EW. “This is like, ‘What if it’s a couple years later and it sucks?’ ”

But don’t worry —this won’t be four people sitting around listening to ’90s alterna-rock and lamenting their misfortune. There will be punching, explosions and all the blockbuster stuff you expect according to Trank, who nearly runs out of adjectives in describing how awesome the movie will be. “The audience should expect an epic, massive, huge, multipower slugfest,” Trank promises. “This movie is big. A lot of stakes.”

However, the stigma of those other "Fantastic Four" movies still lingers, and The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Fox has quietly removed those flicks from iTunes, Amazon and other digital platforms. At least this reboot has a low bar to clear in improving upon what came before.

"Fantastic Four" arrives on August 7th. Check out some promos and TV spots below.
