“I Will Find You”
Based on the novel of the same name by Harlan Coben, “I Will Find You” is the latest of his works to get an adaptation. The Netflix miniseries stars Sam Worthington, Britt Lower, Milo Ventimiglia, and Erin Richards. Created by Robert Hull, the series follows a man who is wrongly imprisoned for the murder of his son, who learns that his son might still be alive.
Release Date: The series premieres June 18 on Netflix.
“Sugar”
Colin Farrell returns for the second season of the neo-noir detective series, “Sugar.” Jin Ha, Raymond Lee, Tony Dalton, Laura Donnelly, and Sasha Calle join the cast for Season 2 with Sam Catlin (“Preacher”) returning as showrunner. Following the major twist reveal in the Season 1 finale, Season 2 picks up with John Sugar taking on a new case in Los Angeles.
Release Date: Season 2 premieres June 19 on Apple TV+.
“House of the Dragon”
“A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” isn’t the only “Game of Thrones” spinoff receiving attention this year, with Season 3 of “House of the Dragon” returning. Led by showrunner Ryan Condal, the season covers the events of George R.R. Martin’s prequel novel, “Fire & Blood.” Season 3 will cover major showdowns, such as the fall of King’s Landing. Returning cast includes Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Rhys Ifans, Steven Toussaint, Sonoya Mizuno, Fabien Frankel, Olivia Cooke, Matthew Needham, Jefferson Hall, Harry Collet, Tom Glynn-Carney, and more.
Release Date: Season 3 premieres June 21 on HBO and HBO Max.
“The Bear”
Following a standalone episode starring Jon Bernthal and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, the Emmy-winning “The Bear” returns for its fifth and final season. Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edibiri, Moss-Bachrach, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, Abby Elliott, Matty Matheson, and Edwin Lee Gibson all return, with the series picking up the morning after Carmy announced that he’s leaving the food industry, leaving the restaurant in the hands of Sydney, Richie, and Natalie.
Release Date: Season 5 premieres June 25 on FX on Hulu.
“Avatar: The Last Airbender”
Based on the popular animated series created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the Netflix live-action adaptation of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” returns for Season 2. Gordon Cormier, Kiawentiio, Ian Ousley, Dallas Liu, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Ken Leung, Daniel Dae Kim, and Miya Cech all star, with Season 2 taking the protagonists, Aang, Katara, and Sokka, to the Earth Kingdom. While exploring the mysterious Ba Sing Se, they’ll come across greater threats and new allies.
Release Date: Season 2 premieres June 25 on Netflix.
“Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness”
Following the end of “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” Larry David returns to HBO with the seven-part sketch comedy series “Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness.” Created by David and Jeff Schaffer and produced by Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, the comedy plays on the idea of what happens when the President and Mrs. Obama look to honor America’s 250th anniversary, only for Larry David to call.
Release Date: The series premieres June 26 on HBO and HBO Max.
Honorable Mention: There’s also the true crime series “The Witness” for Netflix, starring Jordan Bolger on June 4, and the return to the world of Anne Rice with “The Vampire Lestat” starring Sam Reid and Jacob Anderson on June 7. Meanwhile, those looking for more of a superhero fix beyond the “Supergirl” movie can return for Season 3 of the animated series “My Adventures with Superman” on June 13 on Adult Swim and HBO Max.
