According to Deadline, Knightley is set to star in “The Essex Serpent,” based on the novel by Sarah Perry. The series follows the story of Cora (Knightley), a woman fleeing an abusive marriage in Victorian England that finds herself in the small village of Aldwinter in Essex. While there, Cora becomes intrigued by the mystery of a mythical creature called the Essex Serpent that is said to have returned to the area.

“The Essex Serpent” is written by Anna Symon and directed by Clio Barnard. The filmmaker is probably best known for projects such as “Dark River” and “The Selfish Giant.”

But hey, growing pains for the platform were expected and, as the saying goes, eventually after throwing enough stuff at the wall, something will stick.
